Panelist, Global Issues in Academic Advising, NACADA Annual Conference. Phoenix, AZ, USA. [conference website]
This interactive, question-and-answer session will increase participants’ knowledge of current advising situations across the world, focusing on the topics of retention, and the first year experience.
Audience feedback: “I think it is extremely important for academic advisors who deal with international students or students who would like to study abroad to have an in-depth education of the various higher education systems around the world, especially the counties where most of our international students are from. The panel should also include representatives from these countries. The fact that there were very few audience for such an important and less known topic showed that there isn’t a strong enough awareness of self-education among advisors to develop a global knowledge of academic advising. This should be promoted and strongly encouraged by NACADA in future national conferences.”
